
Located in the West End of Glasgow at 7/8 Park Terrace, Glasgow Youth Hostel overlooks Kelvingrove Park and has panoramic views across Glasgow's cultural centre and the Clyde valley. It is an ideal place from which to explore the many shops, free galleries and museums this vibrant and exciting city has to offer.
Only one mile from the city centre, Glasgow Youth Hostel is within easy reach of the city's air, rail and road links. The Hostel is 20-30mins walk from the city centre and a taxi averages at around £5.
Glasgow has two main railway stations. Train travellers coming from the north and east will arrive into Queen Street Station while those arriving from the South and West will arrive via Central Station.
Subway trains from Buchanan Street Underground leave every few minutes. Travel as far as Kelvinbridge Underground then exit to the right and cross the car park and kids' play park. At the bridge take the stairs up to Gibson Street and turn left. Cross at the lights and walk to the top of the hill. Exit the park and turn right along Park Terrace, Glasgow Youth Hostel is on the left hand side of the street.
Travellers by bus will arrive via Buchanan Bus Station.
Take the bus number 44 or 44A (destination: Knightswood, Cowdenhill Rd) from Central Station (Hope St) or from Bath St if you are coming from Buchanan St bus station. Get off the bus at the the first stop on Woodlands Rd. Follow signs for Youth Hostel up the hill.
From the M8 motorway westbound, take Junction 18, marked Charing Cross and Kelvingrove, & follow signs for Youth Hostel. If travelling eastbound, take Junction 17, marked Dumbarton, then merge left onto the A81. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights and right at the next set of lights and you'll find yourself on Woodlands Rd. Follow the Youth Hostel signposts from here.
Parking outside the Youth Hostel is free at weekends and overnight during the week (between 6pm and 8am). However, parking charges apply between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. We now sell parking permits which allow you to park outside all day long without having to move your car every 3 hours. Ask at the reception on your arrival for details.
